I’m sorry. I’ve been a slacking blogger recently. That said, I’ve been anxious to share these photographs from a magical morning that I spent with a beautiful and inspiring family at Valley Birthplace.
This is the second birth that I have had the great privilege to witness and photograph and I can’t imagine it ever being anything less than thrilling. When I arrived at the birth center around 5AM, Rose had already been in labor for a few hours. The sun was just beginning to rise and the room was still very dark. It was extremely quiet in the room and a candle flickered by the tub where Rose was serenely laboring through contractions. Two midwives as well as Rose’s mother & husband, Assaf, were in the room quietly supporting her (and, occasionally, getting some rest!).
Watching Rose labor was awe-inspiring. She exuded peace, strength & confidence. Soon after I arrived, labor progressed quickly though there was little change in Rose’s stoic demeanor. Baby Benji was born, peacefully in the tub, just before 7am. Similar to the last birth I photographed, baby arrived just minutes before I had to leave to take care of my son! I was thrilled.
I returned a couple of hours later to witness & document baby Benji’s siblings, Jesse & Ella, meet their new little brother for the first time. It was adorable! Rose looked refreshed and Benji was happily resting and getting to know his new world and family. I absolutely love getting to be a witness to these precious moments. What a beautiful family!! Thank you, Rose & Assaf, for allowing me to be there during this intimate and wonderful time in your lives! I wish you all a lifetime of happiness together.
